Why the same walk stops working
Dogs get more from a new route than a longer one. New smells, new surfaces and new corners tire a dog mentally in a way that a third lap of the usual block never will, which is why the dog is knackered after somewhere new and restless after the familiar loop. You get the same effect: a route you have never walked is a walk you are actually looking at.
Three ways to break the loop this week
- Drive ten minutes to a start point you have never used and walk the same distance from there.
- Walk your normal route in reverse, then take the first turn you always skip.
